Gates Cambridge University Scholarships for International Students 2022–2023 — Study in the UK

 Gates Cambridge Scholarships Overview

The Gates Cambridge Scholarship program began when the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation granted the University of Cambridge a US$210 million commitment in October 2000, the largest gift ever made to a UK university. The first group of scholars arrived in October 2001.

Every year, Gates Cambridge awards about 80 eligible overseas students with full scholarships to enroll in full-time postgraduate programs in any discipline at the University of Cambridge. For PhD candidates, there will be about 25 scholarships available in the US round and 55 prizes available in the foreign round.

Outstanding intellect, arguments for enrolling in the program, a talent for leadership, and a willingness to better the lives of others are required criteria.

At any given time, Cambridge is home to at least 225 Scholars who represent more than 50 different countries. They study the whole curriculum that the institution offers, are scattered among its Colleges and departments, and create their own distinct community.

There are currently more than 1,700 Gates Cambridge Alumni across the world.

The objective of the Gates Cambridge Initiative is to create a global network of future leaders dedicated to improving the lives of others. It intends to accomplish this through highlighting exceptional students, providing them with financial and non-financial support at one of the best universities in the world, and encouraging community building inside Cambridge and beyond.

Selection criteria for courses

You should be able to make a strong argument for a particular postgraduate degree from Cambridge. In order to construct a research topic that will be briefly described in the application, PhD applicants (and the majority of research MPhil candidates) must get in touch with a potential supervisor. You must exhibit the requisite academic background, skills, and competence in order to pass the course. All candidates, including those seeking taught MPhils, must demonstrate how taking the proposed course will benefit their careers. Gates Do your study and thoroughly support the programme you are applying for because Cambridge is searching for Scholars who will have an academically transforming experience.

A motivation to improve other people's lives

One aspect of the Gates Cambridge program that distinguishes our Scholars is their commitment to improving the lives of others. This criterion is open to several interpretations, and candidates define it for themselves by showcasing their dedication to the cultures in which they will live and work in the past, present, and future.
the capacity for leadership
Candidates that are chosen for the position must be able to show they have various leadership traits. Candidates should give examples of their prior leadership roles and discuss how their ability to lead will help them in their future professions.

Observations on the PhD to Master's Award Ratio

To create and support a thriving Scholar community at Cambridge University and to assist Students in making the most of their time in Cambridge, we seek to choose roughly two-thirds of PhD scholars each year.
