This internship in science journalism is fully compensated. The internship will last three to six months at most. Your accommodation costs, food costs, and the price of a round-trip ticket from/to your home station will all be covered by the monthly stipend you get from the internship. 

The organizations communication initiatives are handled by the ESO Education and Public Outreach Department (ePOD). To meet the unique needs of television, print, and online media, a range of programs and activities are used, such as press releases and broadcast content for the media. In addition to producing high-quality printed goods including brochures, books, annual reports, bulletins, and posters, ePOD also employs a multimedia approach to public communication.

A 16-nation multinational ground-based astronomy research organization, the European Southern Observatory (ESO), was initially known as the European Organisation for Astronomical Research in the Southern Hemisphere. Since its founding in 1962, ESO has provided astronomers with access to the southern sky and state-of-the-art research facilities. 

Outreach initiatives for the organization are handled by the ESO Education and Public Outreach Department (ePOD). Press releases and broadcast material for the media are only a few of the many programs and activities that are employed to satisfy the unique needs of print, television, and online media.
