Jonathan supports providing scholarships to gifted African youth.

The former president of Nigeria urged industry and academia on the African continent to work together to overcome some of the problems the continent is currently facing.

In his speech at the Cavendish University Uganda (CUU11th )'s commencement ceremony, Jonathan made the call. 

In statements made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Friday, Jonathan, the university's chancellor, promised the school of his continuous support.

The institution's Chancellor, Mr. Jonathan, pledged the university of his continuous support in his remarks. 

We shall keep putting our efforts toward reducing obstacles that prevent many outstanding African adolescents from attending higher education because of their poor earnings. 

Therefore, Mr. Jonathan added, "We will need to seek for scholarships for the gifted but underprivileged youths, even if it means connecting them to loan programs where they may pay afterwards."

It will be more effective if academics works with business to improve production, distribution, and marketing while business supports the university. 

Mr. Jonathan applauded CUU leadership's initiatives to outperform the institution's pre-pandemic performance at a time when other universities were still battling COVID-19's aftereffects. 

Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, the former president, has disassociated himself from an online youth empowerment program that offers recipients financial assistance ranging from N5 million to N10 million. In a disclaimer posted on X on Friday, the GEJ Foundation said that the project called "Empowering Nigerian Youth Enhancing Economic Growth" is fraudulent and deceptive. The enigmatic organizers stated in an online post allegedly signed by the former president that the GEJ Foundation started the project on March 25, 2023, with the goal of "supporting Nigerian youths and upcoming entrepreneurs."

The collaboration between CUU and other universities and institutions was also praised by him. He said, "I know this leads to exchange of ideas and creation of opportunities for students and faculty in the collaborating institutions.

If academics collaborate with business to enhance production, distribution, and marketing while business supports the university, it will be more effective. 

At a time when other colleges were still dealing with the impacts of COVID-19, Mr. Jonathan praised the CUU leadership's initiatives to improve the institution's pre-pandemic performance. 

After giving these issues a lot of thought, I have come to the conclusion that wealth is a product of the human mind that has been adequately trained by education. I firmly believe that any country that does not invest its wealth and resources in building up its young's potential would eventually have to use those resources to combat youth insecurity.

"Financial assistance to individuals with innovative business ideas, enabling them to turn their visions into reality" is the message's stated goal. According to the dubious organizers, recipients will receive cash assistance ranging from N5 million to N10 million.

 As a leader, you have the choice to teach the kids through your policies or suffer the repercussions of not doing so. How to deal with the youth bulge is the issue facing all African leaders. Do we see this as an opportunity or a ticking time bomb?

He also appreciated the cooperation between CUU and other colleges and organizations. I know this leads to an interchange of ideas and the creation of chances for academics and students in the cooperating institutions, the man remarked.

It's crucial that you set ambitious goals and are committed to achieving them. 

"Recognize that in the 21st century, mentality is what separates the mighty from the powerless. 

"The wealthy know that they can design the lifestyle they want. 

To take advantage of the initiative, interested parties were urged to submit their applications. The GEJ Foundation, however, denied any involvement in such an endeavor. "@GEJ Foundation is aware of a misleading message being circulated about the proposed launched of a youth empowerment initiative tagged: "Empowering Nigerian Youth Enhancing Economic Growth," which promises to offer financial support to individuals," the foundation stated in its post titled "Disclaimer on Misleading Information Regarding Empowerment Initiative." "We strongly advise the public to ignore the message because it contains inaccurate and deceptive information intended to defraud people."

From post-primary through tertiary education, the State Government was supposed to look after the brightest minds and make sure they attended the greatest universities in the world. It was intended that at least 100 students would be chosen each year for this program. After a year and five months, I left the state to run for vice president, thus I was unable to carry out the plan. 

 I started a similar initiative called the Presidential Special Scholarship Scheme for Innovation and Development (President) when I became president of Nigeria. In order to facilitate faster, more sustainable economic and technological growth, this program developed a small group of professionals.

They are motivated from within and use pertinent knowledge to close gaps and address societal problems. They employ their mental abilities to accomplish all of these things. 

"Today's success is already evidence that you can accomplish more if you put up more effort. No reason exists for you to fail. 

He continued, "I challenge you to go out and transform the world, starting with your self, families, and communities.
